a big ol' book blog hop!

i'm so thrilled and excited to announce my book blog hop, i really hope you join me on a skip and a jump around t'internet for the next few weeks (with a break for christmas!) where bloggers will be sharing sew alongs, interviews and giveaways, all based on my book, quilt improv.

to kick off the blog tour, i've got two prizes to give away - the first person to drawn out of the hat will win a signed copy of the book, along with an extra special prize - a mini quilt made by me! the second prize is anther mini quilt. these are completely unique - i made them for the book but misplaced them, then unearthed them during a recent major studio clean-up.
chevron variation mini quilt
crazy triangles mini quilt
quilt improv!
i'd love them to go to new homes, so be in with a chance of winning, tell me - what's your favourite holiday tradition in your part of the world? it could be something that's unique to your household, or to your town or country. mine is listening to cheesy christmas music while decorating the tree & making paper snowflakes with my boys - probably a fairly worldwide universal tradition - so tell me the some unusual stuff! does your town put on a holiday carnival or fete? do you spend the entire month of december in a reindeer sweater & elf shoes? do you only exclusively eat candy canes & christmas tree branches during the holidays? ;)

so, to recap:

*to have a chance at winning, leave a message in the comments section telling me your favourite holiday tradition where you live. this is open to anyone, anywhere in the world.

*remember to LEAVE YOUR NAME & AN EMAIL ADDRESS - no address, no win - don't be disappointed!

*i will pick a mini quilt to send at random, i'm afraid you won't be able to choose, but don't worry, they're both lovely!

*closing date for comments is the end of the blog hop (29th january) so you've got plenty of time to enter.

the line up for the blog hop is amazing, as promised...feast your eyes...you're welcome! and remember to visit the stitch craft create blog here (http://ideas.stitchcraftcreate.co.uk) {sorry about the messy link, blogger is not playing ball today!} for lots of sewing and quilty news!

I love birthdays and Christmas. My sister passed in 2010, so on Christmas we get up and exchange gifts. Then we have breakfast, and my daughter goes to her Dad's house. Then my daughter returns, and at some point in the day we go visit my sister's grave. It's a good day, and it's a little bit different when you are the grieving family..this year was a lot better. On Bdays we get to choose dinner and my daughter usually makes us a cake. A gift of some sort is usually given and/or received. Usually everyone is in a good mood that day! The adults usually choose homemade lasagna and my kiddo usually picks Pizza :) Thanks so much for the chance to win. I would pass out if I was lucky enough to win a special quilt!

My favorite holiday tradition is making my grandmother's dressing recipe with my mom and sisters. We usually make a batch that is large enough for Thanksgiving and Christmas and pop the Christmas batch into the freezer. It's a huge production but really fun and special. Thanks for the chance to own one of your beautiful quilts.

A lovely big family brunch on Christmas day followed by trays of handmade cookies, the family favorites of course, Sunset, Gingerbread, 7 layer and a Kolache or two! Thanks for the opportunity, it was Katy who set me!

I wear Christmas tree earrings every single day in December, no matter what outfit I'm wearing. They're beaded and they swing around a lot and I love them. :)

I have your book, and so does my mom, so I'd love to enter just in case I won one of your fab minis! Fave holiday tradition in my family when I was growing up was to play the word game Big Boggle on New Year's Eve. All of us, kids to grands, with a big batch of Grandfather's Chex party mix, that he made every year.!

We have a traditional (we think English) cooked baked dinner for Christmas lunch with Christmas pudding, turkey, ham and baked vegetables. That would be fine except we live in Brisbane Australia and the temperature is often in the high 30 degrees celcius.

It's Jan. 29th in Canada. I hope I'm not too late! :) A favorite holiday tradition is to have turkey with all the fixings; mashed potatos, mashed sweet potatos, gravy, steamed carrots, stuffing, cranberry sauce and so on. And of course pumpkin pie for dessert. I like it at both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

My favorite part of any holiday with whatever oart of my family is around is preparing and eating a meal. Everybody's in the kitchen helping out and then the fun continues at the table.

The whole family comes for breakfast on Christmas morning, we eat breakfast and then open gifts....then everyone has other places to go....Having the whole family together at the same time doesn't happen all that often so it is the best gift ever :) Congratulations on your book

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is my mother's mango mousse! The joys of a summertime Christmas! We also have traditional Hungarian baked goods - kifli (a sort of almond shortbread) and baigli (pastry rolled around a poppyseed or walnut filling).

Lots of family traditions we have built up over 42 years of marriage. But I love the fact that Is still make our Christmas puddings using a recipe handed down in my family via my paternal Grandmother. The recipe is over 150 years old and I am now the only person in the family still making it! Would love to win your delightful Mini.
